Freshly made today - our soothing foot balm made with beeswax, organic spearmint essential oil & local rapeseed oil cold infused with calendula.

A joy to make using the rapeseed oil infused with calendula petals - a wonderful soothing & moisturising combination. My feet are tingling and very happy to have benefited from the quantity that i couldn't squeeze into the jars!

Cold Infusing!

Well, my jars of cold infusing lavender & comfrey are very happy with all this sunshine today!

Cold infused Comfrey

They are sat on my windowsill absorbing all those rays of sunsine - making the locally grown rapeseed oil take on all those wonderful properties for me to add to my creams and balms in the coming months....

Cold infused Lavender

Just one more week to wait for the calendula that i started in the first week of March!

I will post as soon as we've created something lovely with it!

Of course, please do get in touch if you would just like a small bottle of the pure infused oil for massage or skin/muscle conditions.

Fresh spring nettles!

Lovely spring nettles
Whilst out on a sunny but chilly mothers day walk in local woods today we spotted the lovely young fresh green leaves of the spring nettles.

History tells us that the Romans planted nettle along British roads as they felt the country was so cold they would need to beat themselves with nettles to keep warm!

The leaves are rich in minerals and vitamins - used as a spring tonic as well as a good iron supplement. Care should be taken collecting the leaves obviously due to the sting from the hairs on the stem.

I have not tried such recipes before, but i am tempted this year to try either soup, tea infusion or wine....i'll let you know how we get on....

Calendula in Rapeseed Oil

Local Rapeseed Oil with Calendula (Marigold) Petals
I am delighted and very excited to show you a first glimpse of some local virgin cold pressed rapeseed oil that i am cold infusing (or macerating) with beautiful sunshine calendula petals. If this doesn't shout 'summer!' then i don't know what does.

In 3 weeks or so this oil will be ready - the healing properties of the calendula petals would have infused into the virgin rapeseed oil to produce a very kind and healing blend for the skin. And, with this oil i plan to make some balms - perhaps some intense moisturising balm for the lips and some for the hands using appropriate essential oils.

I promised a gardeners blend too i know - i will make this first for all those keen gardeners as you return to the garden this spring with lots to do to prepare for the coming growing months!

I will keep you posted with progress.....
